Position Title: Supported Employment Specialist
Qualifications: Candidates must be at least 18 years old; a Bachelor's Degree is mandatory. Preference will be given to those who are at least 21 years old with a minimum of one year of experience in providing services to individuals with Developmental Disabilities/Intellectual Disabilities. Applicants must successfully complete a criminal background check and a drug screening. A valid social security card or work permit for non-U.S. citizens, along with a valid driver's license free of moving violations, is required.
Work Schedule: Standard hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with potential evening and weekend shifts as necessary.
Reporting Structure: This role reports directly to the Supported Employment Specialist Supervisor and/or Program Director.
Role Summary: The Supported Employment Specialist is responsible for providing on-the-job assistance to individuals who require support after their Vocational Rehabilitation funding has been utilized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise individuals at their job sites.
- Deliver training and educational support at the workplace and other relevant locations.
- Communicate effectively with all team members involved with the individual (including Case Managers, Behavior Specialists, Therapists, etc.).
- Maintain honesty and integrity in interactions with individuals.
- Establish a respectful and trusting relationship with individuals.
- Provide behavioral support and be knowledgeable about individual behavior plans.
- Monitor for unusual behaviors and collect relevant data.
- Administer medications and understand their side effects.
- Document medication errors accurately and promptly.
- Recognize and report incidents appropriately.
- Prevent and report any form of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
- Adhere to legal obligations regarding the reporting of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual) and neglect.
- Collaborate effectively with co-workers.
- Complete all necessary documentation, including billing, accurately and on time.
- Advocate for the rights of individuals.
- Foster relationships with individuals served.
- Exhibit strong communication skills.
- Show initiative in all assigned tasks.
- Ensure confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality.
- Exhibit patience and understanding.
- Maintain awareness of the individual's location at all times.
- Utilize positive and non-stigmatizing language.
- Respect all colleagues and individuals served.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Complete all necessary training within specified time frames as per agency standards.
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures.
- Read and promote the vision statement of the agency.
- A TB Risk Assessment must be completed and submitted within 7 days of hire.

Job Hazards:
- Work hours are typically structured in 7.5 or 8.0 hour blocks but may require flexibility based on operational needs.
- This position may involve tasks with potential exposure to blood or other infectious materials.
- All staff are required to participate in annual training on infection control and safety protocols.
- New staff must undergo training on managing physical and verbal threats, including situations that may require police intervention.
