Position Overview:


ECS Limited presents an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) / Specialty Technician III to contribute to our operations and thrive in a vibrant work setting.

Your role will encompass a range of intricate projects, where you will carry out field assessments and inspections, potentially involving steel through both destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) or non-destructive examination (NDE).


Key Responsibilities:


Field Operations:
Conduct observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of diverse construction materials, such as soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel; Execute tasks aligned with project specifications under the supervision of senior technicians, professional staff, and project managers; Inspections may also occur in fabrication settings or on mechanical piping systems and pressure vessels.


Testing Protocols:

Perform routine evaluations of structural and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections, utilizing various methodologies and testing apparatus in accordance with industry standards for documentation and compliance; Testing may involve ground penetrating radar (GPR) structural surveys, material verification, and corrosion assessments.


Data Management:

Carry out calculations and data analysis based on sampling, test outcomes, and inspections; Engage in drafting and other administrative tasks as necessary; Ensure organization of field equipment and alert supervisors regarding any damaged or missing items.


Communication:

Maintain consistent communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers, keeping the team updated on evolving site conditions and requests for additional testing; Participate in project meetings as required; Relay test results to the project team and provide technical guidance to resolve issues.


Training and Growth:

Receive training in ECS methodologies for project observations, inspections, and testing; Accurately document findings in line with accepted engineering practices; Mentor junior technicians as they advance in their careers.

Qualifications:


Essential Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Possession of ASNT NDT Level II certification(s) and at least 2 additional advanced industry certifications from recognized authorities such as NRC, NICET, WACEL, ACI, IFC, AWS, ASNT, ASTM (other certifications may be considered at ECS's discretion).
  • Current pursuit of or ability to achieve maximum certifications in the aforementioned categories.
  • Physical capability to carry 40 – 70 lbs frequently and occasionally lift 85 lbs to waist height.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Reliable transportation for job site use – Mileage will be reimbursed.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Advanced knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles, applications, and standards with expertise in your certification area.
  • Thorough understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Effective collaboration with clients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops.
  • High-level ability to interpret engineering and construction plans.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office.
  • If focused on NDE testing, ability to calibrate NDE equipment.
