Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist V to join our team. As a key member of our recovery team, you will provide advanced psychological and therapeutic services to patients across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized Person-Centered Recovery Plans, incorporating patient goals, barriers, and objectives.
  • Conduct diagnostic interviews, recommend treatment plans, and provide psychoeducational groups to aid in patient recovery.
  • Develop and implement behavior plans to address problematic behaviors, working with staff to ensure successful implementation and modification as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality enhancement activities, including chart audits, tracer activities, and reporting on services provided.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of psychology and related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of treatment techniques and practices.
  • Skills in interviewing and conducting diagnostic interviews.
  • Ability to conduct individual, group, and family psychotherapy.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work independently and with a high degree of accuracy, with minimal supervision and extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health services, is required.

Language:

This position requires fluency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other stakeholders.
