Position Summary

Are you passionate about diagnosing, repairing, and enhancing the functionality of advanced equipment? If so, this position may be ideal for you. As a Field Service Engineer, you will represent Centrotherm - Clean Tech at client locations, becoming a vital member of a dynamic and diverse service team.

Our Field Service Engineers receive comprehensive training to support technologies essential for maintaining clean air standards. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that Centrotherm Abatement Systems operate at peak efficiency, contributing to environmental stewardship. Your responsibilities will include installing, maintaining, and upgrading Centrotherm equipment, providing exceptional support for high-value production systems.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

This is an experienced-level role compensated on an hourly (non-exempt) basis. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered. Preferred qualifications enhance the candidate profile. Relevant experience may be acquired through education, projects, research, and applicable work or military experience. Key skills for success include:

  • Effective communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to engage with factory personnel and various stakeholders within a diverse organization.
  • A proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical challenges on intricate electromechanical systems.
  • The capability to operate independently at remote locations with minimal supervision.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to comprehend and adhere to procedures necessary for maintaining and repairing complex equipment.
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by job duties and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • A personal commitment to safety for oneself and others.
  • Proficient understanding of personal computers and the Microsoft Office suite.

Educational and Experience Requirements

Candidates must meet at least one of the following educational or experience criteria:

  • An Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in a STEM or technical field, or military service with 6+ months of relevant experience in lieu of a degree and/or equivalent technical qualifications.
  • Technical certification or diploma from a trade school.
  • 6+ months of experience in operating and performing repairs and preventative maintenance in the semiconductor manufacturing or similar industries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Previous experience with vacuum and/or abatement systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative maintenance, inspections, modifications, and repairs on Centrotherm Abatement Systems.
  • Commission new Centrotherm abatement systems at client sites, ensuring proper operation and setup before handing over to the customer.
  • Regularly meet with the immediate supervisor to establish work priorities and schedules.
  • Act as the primary contact for customer service at client locations.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers.
  • Prepare and submit service reports, document service activities, recommend technical solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide phone support to customers to resolve hardware/software issues.
  • Work may occasionally require off-hours, evening, and weekend availability.
  • Utilize common computer-based tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) effectively.
  • Deliver training to customers and/or internal staff.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Positions may be based in various locations, but daily operations could occur nationwide.

Must be able to:

  • Work in environments with chemicals and gases while wearing protective gear, including aprons, hoods, gloves, booties, safety glasses, and respirators.
  • Lift up to 30 lbs., pull 250 lbs. at least once daily, and spend the majority of time (over 90 percent excluding breaks) on the floor working on equipment, walking 3-5 miles daily, and/or standing/sitting for 9 hours.
  • Travel to and work at regional client sites.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Engage in extensive computer use.
  • Travel may be required up to 100% of the time.

Compensation

This position will be based in various states, with pay determined by knowledge, skills, experience, and ability within the designated range. Typically, candidates are compensated near the midpoint of the range.
