Paraprofessional Counselor

GATEWAYS HOSPITAL & MENTAL HEALTH CENTER is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Paraprofessional Counselor - Seasonal to join our team. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with mental illness.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and maintain a safe and secure environment for clients, staff, and visitors.
- Conduct regular rounds and property searches to ensure the facility is secure and free from hazards.
- Monitor cameras and client behavior, reporting any concerns to management.
- Assist with client meals, snacks, and activities, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
- Respond to emergency situations, providing crisis intervention and support as needed.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
- Document client behavior, incidents, and other relevant information to maintain accurate records.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences or related field preferred.
- One year of experience in mental health, social services, or counseling.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including adults with psychiatric disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Valid California Driver's license and ability to pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
This is a seasonal position, requiring flexibility and adaptability to work various hours and shifts. The successful candidate will be able to work indoors and outdoors, with occasional exposure to extreme temperatures and physical demands.
