Job Summary

We are seeking a Paraprofessional Counselor to join our team at Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center Satellite in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will provide support to clients with psychiatric disabilities, ensuring their safety and well-being in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular safety and security checks of the facility, monitoring cameras and client behavior.
  • Assist with client meals, snacks, and daily living activities (ADLs).
  • Monitor client sign-in and sign-out procedures, ensuring accurate records.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including crisis intervention and medication administration.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and management, providing updates and reports as needed.
  • Participate in training and meetings, maintaining a professional and objective relationship with clients.
Requirements
  • One year of experience in mental health, social services, or counseling.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to assess clients for dangerousness and intervene in a timely and calm manner.
  • Valid California Driver's license and TB clearance.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including weekends and weekdays.
Physical Requirements
  • Approximately 50% of time spent sitting, with frequent walking, standing, and bending.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 20 pounds.
