At Tulsa Honor Academy (THA), our mission is to empower all scholars with the essential academic skills, knowledge, and ethical character necessary for success in college and beyond.
We firmly believe that every scholar, irrespective of their race, background, income, or ability, can excel academically. Our relentless commitment ensures that 100% of our scholars are on a pathway to attend and graduate from a college of their choice, starting from the fifth grade.
Since our inception in 2015 with 92 fifth-grade scholars, THA has expanded to serve over 1,300 scholars in grades 5-12 across two campuses.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Personal Care Assistant at Tulsa Honor Academy operates under the guidance of licensed special education and/or related services staff to assist one or more scholars in achieving essential daily living activities, health-related functions, redirection, and other tasks outlined in an Individualized Education Program (IEP), Section 504 plan, or health plan. This role is dedicated to supporting scholars with physical disabilities, healthcare needs, or those requiring specialized care.

Examples of Core Responsibilities
- Assist scholars with daily living activities, including eating, toileting, dressing, bathing, transferring, mobility, and positioning.
- Support scholars in instrumental activities of daily living, such as navigating within the school and community.
- Provide health-related assistance under the direction of healthcare professionals.
- Perform other comparable duties as assigned.
THE DETAILS
Qualifications/Certifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Able to assist in transfers of 85 pounds or more.
Experience
- Preferred experience with scholars needing additional assistance.
- Experience in a school serving a similar population is preferred.
- Charter school experience is strongly preferred.
Role
- The Personal Care Assistant reports to the Principal and Special Education Manager.
- This is a full-time, year-round, non-exempt position.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation for Personal Care Assistants starts at $11/hour, commensurate with full-time, K-12 experience in accredited schools.
