Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant

As a vital member of the rehabilitation team, the Physical Therapist Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering effective therapy services as outlined in the treatment plan established by the supervising physical therapist. This position requires the ability to assess patient progress and suggest modifications to the treatment approach based on individual responses and conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively engages in team meetings, professional development sessions, and departmental committees to enhance service delivery.
  • Provides appropriate oversight to clinical support staff, ensuring compliance with the Physical Therapy Practice Act.
  • Accurately documents and reports all services rendered to patients, maintaining comprehensive charge and statistical records.
  • Delivers skilled therapeutic interventions for patients across all age groups, adhering to the treatment protocols established by the supervising physical therapist.
  • Assists in the evaluation of patients, ensuring that all actions are within the scope of practice defined by the Physical Therapy Practice Act.
  • Maintains meticulous written and electronic records that meet or exceed organizational standards, including documentation of patient status changes and treatment interventions.
  • Adapts to the needs of the organization by rotating through various treatment areas and facilities as required.
  • Provides constructive feedback to supervisors regarding departmental performance and any urgent situations that arise.
  • Schedules patient sessions to maintain productivity levels that align with organizational benchmarks.
  • Demonstrates the ability to implement treatment plans effectively, adjusting approaches based on patient feedback and medical status to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
  • Upholds current scientific and clinical standards in the execution of treatment programs, ensuring the achievement of established goals.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program with an associate degree.

Licensure and Certifications:

CPR certification is mandatory, adhering to AHA standards that encompass both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist Assistant under Indirect Supervision
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting certification with renewal
  • Act 33 certification with renewal
  • Act 34 certification with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
