This position involves recommending modifications to treatment plans based on patient evaluations and responses to therapy. The assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment, overseeing therapy volunteers, and performing necessary administrative tasks as required by the facility. Additionally, the assistant ensures safe and respectful transportation of patients using designated transport vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively participates in team meetings, professional development, departmental committees, and educational programs.
- Provides appropriate supervision to clinical support staff in compliance with the Physical Therapy Practice Act.
- Accurately completes necessary billing and statistical documentation to reflect the services provided to patients.
- Delivers effective and skillful therapeutic interventions based on treatment plans created by physical therapists for patients across all age groups.
- Assists physical therapists in evaluating patients while adhering to the practice standards.
- Maintains comprehensive written and electronic records that meet or exceed facility standards, documenting patient status changes and treatment interventions.
- Rotates through various treatment areas and facilities as needed to support organizational needs.
- Provides constructive feedback to supervisors regarding departmental performance and emergency situations.
- Manages scheduling to meet or exceed productivity standards set by the organization.
- Demonstrates the ability to implement treatment programs according to the outlined care plan, adjusting as necessary based on patient responses and medical status changes.
- Ensures clinical practices reflect current scientific knowledge to achieve established treatment goals.
- Holds an associate degree from a Physical Therapist Assistant program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR certification is required in accordance with AHA standards, including both theoretical and practical components.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist Assistant Indirect Supervision
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
