About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced quality engineering manager to lead our FedNow quality engineering team. As a FedNow Manager, Quality Engineering, you will be responsible for developing and implementing quality strategies, test design techniques, and cross-functional test strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and communicate quality strategies, test design techniques, and cross-functional test strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Advocate for quality and ensure agile teams implement and follow best practices to prevent defects.
  • Spearhead the integration of QA processes, governance, and ensure sufficient quality and test coverage into all stages of platform development to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate with product teams, National IT teams, Tech Operations, and business integration teams on NFRs for platform-level performance, end-to-end testing, and security testing strategy.
  • Develop and collaborate with data engineering teams, business integration teams, and test engineering teams on feature data coverage sets to support automation efforts.
  • Advise agile teams, integration teams, and infrastructure teams on matters of process, quality, metrics, and procedures related to testing.
  • Coordinate with scrum teams to refine processes, implement best practices, monitor quality metrics, and work on improvements throughout the sprint and release cycle.
  • Develop a communication plan and clearly articulate complex situations to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Mentor test engineering teams on building reusable utilities or libraries and technologies like Python, RESTful, DevOps CI/CD, and Cloud technologies.
  • Recruit quality engineers and ensure the retention of top talent.
  • Set goals, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback to direct reports.
  • Support, mentor, and professional development of quality engineering teams.
  • Perform manual, exploratory, and automation scripts development efforts.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in software quality testing practices, automation, performance, and data quality testing with a solid, demonstrable understanding of software development and testing practices in agile.
  • 6+ years of experience in leading testing practices in Agile.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, coach/mentor agile delivery teams on quality principles.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in developing automation frameworks in Java/Python or other languages.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL database working experience, writing queries, stored procedures, and scripts.
  • Experience of distributed source control systems such as Git.
  • Experience working with REST services and understanding of SOA architecture.
  • Experience of working cloud technologies like AWS and experience of testing micro-services, containers, and Docker is a plus.
  • Experience in building performance test strategy, planning, using testing tools, and analysis of metrics.
  • Experience in developing exploratory testing techniques, creating and analyzing defect reports, and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience of creating and maintaining test harnesses, stubs, and mock interfaces.
  • Experience working in DevOps culture, tools, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to cultivate effective working relationships with business and technical staff at all levels.
  • Highly developed critical thinking, including strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to set priorities and readily adapt to changing priorities; commitment and flexibility to ensure critical deadlines are met.
  • Bachelor's or higher qualification in computer science, information systems, or equivalent background or experience.
  • SAFE or Agile certification, Cloud or DevOps certification is a plus.
