Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the quality of materials sourced from external suppliers to support customer projects and products, including managing supplier non-conformances and Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR).
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to assess the manufacturability of designs at external facilities.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for supplier non-conformance issues, engaging engineering and other critical departments.
  • Audit current suppliers to evaluate risks by monitoring changes in management, key personnel, and process modifications.
  • Assist in the development of both new and existing suppliers by enhancing their quality management systems to elevate overall part and documentation quality.
  • Establish quality requirements for highly technical projects based on customer, internal, and industry standards.
  • Reduce quality and project risks through the implementation of inspections and other compliance methods to meet all project specifications.
Technical Skills
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting engineering drawings and related industrial specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with specialized processes such as welding, casting, and molding.
  • Capability to manage supplier relationships, performance, and product compliance.
  • Ability to facilitate technical discussions with internal and external teams and suppliers across various manufacturing and installation sites as per project requirements.

Qualifications

Mandatory
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or a related technical field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality or inspection roles.
  • Experience in steel fabrication, pressure vessels, plastic injection molding, oil and gas, or water treatment systems, and/or electromechanical assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with QRQC, Lean Six Sigma, DOE, Deming Cycle, FMEA, 8D, APQP, Control Plan, PPAP, MSA, etc.
Preferred
  • Prior project management experience from Inquiry to Order (ITO) through to Order to Remittance (OTR).
  • Technical inspection experience or certification in welding, NDT, and other relevant disciplines.
  • Knowledge of NSF, AWS B31.1 and B31.3 welding codes and their Canadian equivalents.
  • Proficiency in Business and Technical English.
  • ISO9001 auditor qualification or equivalent.
Work Environment
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% as required.
  • Site visits to suppliers and customers may occur in outdoor or exposed environments.
  • Options for office or remote work are available.
