Healthcare Case Management Specialist - RN

CorVel Corporation is seeking a compassionate, driven, and autonomous registered nurse to take on the role of Healthcare Case Management Specialist.

This position allows for a combination of remote work and travel.


As a Healthcare Case Management Specialist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of injured workers and their families.

Your duties will involve close collaboration with injured workers to support their recovery journey. You will engage with the patient, their family, medical professionals, our team members, and other stakeholders.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver Medical Case Management services through both in-person and telephonic interactions with patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
  • Apply your medical and nursing expertise to review and discuss current treatment plans with physicians and explore alternative options.
  • Assess the appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness of patients' treatment plans.
  • Conduct evaluations, planning, implementation, and assessment of patients' progress.
  • Participate in visits with doctors, other providers, and, when necessary, attorneys.
  • Attend discharge planning meetings at hospitals or long-term care facilities to determine care appropriateness and develop effective long-term care strategies, including initial home evaluations.
  • Facilitate care by coordinating the delivery of durable medical equipment and nursing services.
  • This role necessitates regular travel based on the needs of injured workers, with local travel comprising approximately 60% of your work schedule.
  • Overnight travel may also be required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Previous experience as a RN or Medical Case Manager is preferred, with a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation being advantageous.
  • Capacity to interact with patients, their healthcare providers, attorneys, and colleagues.
  • Background in cost containment, such as utilization review or managed care, is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, including Excel.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN Licensure in the state of practice.
  • Preferred certifications include CCM, CIRS, or other relevant Case Management credentials.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for travel to designated locations.

SALARY RANGE:
CorVel employs a market-based approach to compensation, and salary ranges may differ based on geographic location and other factors.

Salary considerations include:

federal, state, and local minimum wage laws, geographic location differentials, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions.

Salary ranges are subject to change.


For roles at various levels (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.), new hires may be placed at a different level based on assessments conducted during the interview process, considering experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position.

The level may influence the salary range, and these details will be clarified during the offer process.

Salary Range:
$60,846 - $90,940
