Sports Facility Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sports Facility Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the James E. Russell Indoor Sports Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and scheduling indoor and outdoor recreational programs and activities, as well as supervising sports facility staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Recreation Services Superintendent in developing and implementing the operations, management, and staffing manual for the James E. Russell Indoor Sports Center.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors and users.
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Services Superintendent, Community Planning & Development Director, City staff, and community recreation and sports user groups to optimize the usage of the facility.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, local schools, sports teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Train, supervise, address performance concerns, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all facility operations.
  • Participate in the recruitment and interview process of facility staff.
  • Provide high-level customer service, addressing concerns, inquiries, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repairs of the facility and its equipment.
  • Submit maintenance or repair requests for the facility in a timely manner.
  • Recommend necessary improvements or upgrades.
  • Ensure contract service providers adhere to contractual arrangements.
  • Ensure timely ordering of supplies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Three years' experience in managing operations for sports or recreational facilities, program development, staff management, and budget oversight.
  • First aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Valid driver's license.
