Role Summary
The Graduate Assistant will support the daily coaching and conditioning of student-athletes. Collaborating with coaches and Athletic Trainers, this role involves the safe implementation and enhancement of training programs for athletes. The position may require evening and weekend commitments. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to Christian higher education and a servant leadership approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Train and mentor student-athletes in their conditioning routines.
- Collaborate with the Director to design and execute sport-specific strength, speed, and conditioning programs for all intercollegiate athletics.
- Assist with nutritional guidance in coordination with the Director.
- Engage with head coaches to address specific training needs and tailor programs accordingly.
- Maintain regular communication with athletic training staff regarding injury management and prevention strategies.
- Support fundraising initiatives for program advancement.
- Carry out administrative tasks as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with NAIA regulations and the NAIA Champions of Character core values.
- Promote campus involvement and community service initiatives.
- Provide Christ-centered leadership and direction for the athletic program.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Experience in collegiate sports, either as an athlete or staff member.
- Strong communication and motivational abilities.
- Exemplary role model for student-athletes and university community.
- Familiarity with NAIA rules and regulations.
- Encourage collaboration among university departments to ensure effective communication and operations.
- Understand and adhere to university policies and procedures, exercising sound judgment.

Graduate Assistant Program Information
A limited number of graduate assistant positions are available across various departments. Selected candidates will receive a tuition waiver for 18 credit hours per year for one of Ottawa University's graduate programs, a partial meal allowance, and a bi-weekly living stipend for 12 months. Renewal for a second year is contingent upon academic performance and quality of service.
International candidates may only pursue the on-campus MBA degree and must secure an F1 student visa, meeting international admissions criteria for acceptance into the program.
Appointments are typically made to students demonstrating superior aptitude in their undergraduate studies and who are likely to provide high-quality service to the university.

To be eligible for a Graduate Assistant position, candidates must first be accepted into an Ottawa University graduate program. Admission requirements include:
