Job Summary

The Architect of the Capitol is seeking a highly skilled Construction Inspector to join our team. As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed in accordance with contract requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect construction projects to ensure compliance with contract documents and industry standards.
  • Monitor construction activities to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Recommend improvements in design and efficiency to reduce changes to the contract.
  • Utilize industry best practices, project controls, and standard operating procedures to manage contracts.
  • Conduct labor interviews to ensure compliance with labor regulations and standards.
  • Review and analyze plans and specifications to determine and recommend action necessary to correct deficiencies.
  • Participate in negotiation of contract modifications.
  • Ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Must meet the definition of specialized experience.
Qualifications

Candidates for this position must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position must demonstrate the following:

  • Assisting the Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) on assigned construction and consultant contracts.
  • Working with Project Managers and Construction Managers monitoring construction contracts for compliance with contract documents and providing proactive oversight to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Recommending improvements in design and efficiency, reducing changes to the contract, and enhancing operations.
  • Using a full range of industry best practices, project controls, standard operating procedures (SOP), and various technologies in the overshadowing management of contracts.
