Job Summary

We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our bakery team as a Bakery Clerk. In this role, you'll be responsible for scaling, mixing, and baking various bakery goods, maintaining proper inventory levels, and ensuring the cleanliness and appearance of the bakery department meets our high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers, consistently meeting our high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Produce bakery products for retail stores, ensuring quality and freshness.
  • Operate and clean equipment and work area, maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery environment.
  • Package all fresh products following all packaging and handling procedures.
  • Ensure quality of goods by following code dating procedures and legal regulations.
  • Mixes icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients, operating a mixer, and reading recipes.
  • Dumps icing or other toppings into large storage containers.
  • Sets up cakes by taking liners off, putting icing between layers, and decorating with various toppings.
  • Packages cakes by placing them in boxes and labeling them with accurate information.
  • Displays products on shelves by arranging them in an appealing manner and using FIFO for rotation.
  • Takes orders by phone and in person from customers, special orders by following customer requests.
  • Personalizes cakes by writing customer messages.
  • Faces merchandise and maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness.
  • Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques to promote products and services.
  • Displays goods by following packaging and handling procedures, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring cleanliness and appeal of product showcases.
  • Assists customers with inquiries, providing accurate information on products, pricing, and availability.
  • Ensures quality of goods by following code dating procedures and legal regulations.
  • Ensures quantity of goods is available by keeping managers informed of stock levels and accurately filling out inventory and production sheets.
  • Produces breads and rolls by mixing recipes, setting up racks and pans, and operating equipment.
  • Cleans work area using pressure hoses, floor brushes, and other cleaning equipment.
  • Produces croissants by folding, proofing, and baking.
  • Opens and closes bakery according to company procedures.
Requirements
  • Ability to consistently provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work varied hours, primarily between 3:00 am and 10:00 pm, in a 24/7 operation.
  • Ability to lift objects of various dimensions, up to 50 pounds, and push and pull approximately 100 pounds of product at a time.
  • Ability to conduct visual inspections, read and follow production guides, recipes, and product labels.
  • Ability to maintain composure in dealing with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to reach overhead, stand, walk, and move rapidly for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, perform repetitive movements, and reach frequently.
  • Ability to handle bakery ingredients and perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to perform duties with mental alertness, involving potential hazards with respect to baking procedures, equipment, and work aides.
  • Ability to respond to audible timers on baking equipment.
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies.
  • Ability to wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.
Additional Requirements
  • Food Handlers Certification (per state laws).

  • Ovens, proof box, mixers, bread sheeter, flour dump bins, floor scrubber, dishwasher, rack washer, pallet jack, microwave, 20pt divider, 36pt divider, donut filler unit, airbrush, date gun, scan gun, and DIGI printer, label machine, and ink jet printer.
