Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Lineperson 1st Class to join our team at The Tri-M Group, LLC. As a key member of our electrical construction team, you will be responsible for performing various tasks related to the installation of aerial and underground line construction and outdoor lighting systems, and switch gear installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Maintenance
    • Install power poles and guys with all related cross arms, insulators, and hardware.
    • String aerial conductors with proper sags and tensions.
    • Install aerial and pad-mounted transformers and related switchgear.
    • Properly install and terminate primary (5 KV and up) cables.
  • Construction and Layout
    • Perform layout and supervision of small line construction projects.
    • Operate equipment, bucket trucks, digger derrick (line) trucks, trenchers, and backhoe.
  • Electrical Safety and Compliance
    • Follows and understands proper safety and temporary grounding procedures.
    • Reads and interprets outdoor electrical distribution system drawings.
    • Assures compliance with the National Electric Code (NEC) and National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Team Leadership and Communication
    • Assure that quality and productivity meet Company and customer standards.
    • Assure that appropriate on-the-job training takes place for all subordinates.
    • Requisitions materials and supplies; schedules heavy vehicles when not done by Line Foreperson.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Completion of apprenticeship program modified for lineperson.
    • Minimum of four years spent primarily in the aerial line and underground power construction field.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Understands general line construction standards and procedures for primary and secondary installations.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the safe operation of line and bucket trucks, trenchers, and backhoe.
    • Maintains current CPR card.
    • Understands operation and troubleshooting procedures for distribution system.
    • Knowledge of various types of dielectric insulating fluids.
    • Demonstrated ability to use basic electrical measuring and testing equipment (megger, volt, amp, and ohm meters).
  • Physical Demands
    • Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8 to 10-hour shifts.
    • Standing and climbing 4 to 6 hours/day.
    • Kneeling, lifting, reaching above shoulders, and bending (90°) 4 to 5 hours/day.
