About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at EMCOR Group. As a key member of our facilities services team, you will be responsible for managing the installation and repair of facility electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of commercial and industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the assembly and testing of experimental motor control devices, control panels, programmable controllers, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components.
  • Modify electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations under the direction of an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer.
  • Diagnose electrical or mechanical malfunctions or failures of operational equipment and determine root cause and corrective measures.
  • Develop wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and assist in developing engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion.
  • Plan, direct, record periodic electrical testing, and schedule personnel performing electrical duties within the facility.
  • Maintain all electrical distribution systems within the buildings.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties, including facility maintenance program, and recording of electrical and instrumentation testing.
  • Follow all site-related and electrical safety policies and participate in weekly safety meetings.
  • Manage tools required, project materials, and material inventory to ensure scheduled project completion.
  • Communicate effectively using verbal, written, and electronic skills with coworkers and clients.
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment.
  • Connect power supply wires to machines and building equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and support production electronics and automation components.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Will be responsible for all 3-phase 480/277 VAC, 3-phase 120/208 VAC, and 120/240 VAC equipment.
  • Will be responsible to maintain all electrical distribution systems within the buildings.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices.
  • Replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
  • Will be responsible for maintaining building lighting, task lighting on furniture systems, parking lot lighting, lighting contactors, emergency lights/exit lights, 120-volt outlets, photoelectric eyes.
  • Fix exterior building lighting, and lighting contactors that are controlled by the energy management system.
  • Plan the layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on all electrical utilities and equipment.
  • Attend classes and seminars on air conditioning components and system design to update skills.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain, organize, control, inventory supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Clean and organize the shop area. Maintain inventory of spare parts and material. Maintain tools and equipment for maintenance work.
Requirements
  • Successfully completed Electrical Apprenticeship Program or graduate of a certified technical school and achieved Journeyman status.
  • 5 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 7 years related experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Must possess applicable certifications (Journeyman Card), licenses, and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, Ohms Law, and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
