About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Utility Person to join our team at American Water Enterprises. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground water mains and distribution pipes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up barricades and safety lights around work sites to protect workers from street traffic.
  • Break up asphalt and concrete using pneumatic power tools for trenching and compaction.
  • Manually dig up valve boxes and curb boxes using shovels and digging bars.
  • Guide pipe sections, valves, and fittings into position and hold pieces steady while tightening connections.
  • Tap into pressurized water mains, flare, and connect copper piping.
  • Install repair clamps on pressurized water mains and service lines.
  • Operate valves and fire hydrants, investigate complaints, and determine corrective action per Company procedure.
  • Operate pneumatic and/or hydraulic boring equipment, complete necessary forms, sketches, and field notes, and be knowledgeable of usage of maps and records.
  • Drive vehicles and/or trucks in performance of general job, including housekeeping of vehicles.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or state-recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate.
  • College degree desirable.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check.
