SECURITY CLEARANCE: A Department of Defense Secret security clearance is mandatory at the time of employment. Candidates should be capable of obtaining a TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable timeframe post-hire. Selected applicants will undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and must fulfill eligibility criteria for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is essential due to the nature of the work.

Key Responsibilities

General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking an Information Assurance Security Professional. This role presents an opportunity to advance cutting-edge technologies that underpin critical defense and intelligence services. Our team collaborates closely with esteemed clients to devise solutions that enable them to execute high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will serve as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), overseeing multiple Special Access Programs and managing Information Assurance (IA) Cyber responsibilities for government clients. Key components of the IA program encompass Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities, security sustainment tasks, self-inspections, audit trail evaluations, and delivering security education and awareness to information systems users. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual capable of multitasking and effectively managing time in a dynamic setting with minimal supervision. Strong written, verbal, analytical, organizational, and customer service skills are essential for addressing complex compliance and security challenges. The ISSO will collaborate with System Administrators and IT personnel to ensure all configuration requirements are met and operational.

PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE:
As part of the Information Assurance Security team, the ISSO will assist in system security categorization, security requirements analysis, security control assessments, and continuous monitoring.

  • Facilitate or assist in A&A activities, including the development of necessary security documentation such as System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) in alignment with IA policies.
  • Conduct weekly system audit evaluations, media reviews, and hardware/software configuration management.
  • Implement security testing and evaluations to confirm the correct application of security controls.
  • Support the assessment and mitigation of vulnerabilities throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Deliver IA security training for all system users on effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Execute incident response and remediation actions as directed by company or client protocols.
  • Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with internal security policies outlined in the System Security Plan (SSP).
  • Assume ISSM responsibilities as designated by the Region Manager or in the absence of the ISSM.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity standards such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), JSIG, ICD-503, and NIST SP.
  • Experience in implementing government security requirements, including technical computer/network system audits.
  • Proficient in Assured File Transfer (AFT) processes and tools.
  • Familiarity with various security assessment and hardening tools, including STIGs, SCAP, ACAS, and Nessus.
  • Systems administration experience is highly advantageous.
  • Exceptional writing, speaking, analytical, and customer service abilities.
  • Capability to participate in or lead security workgroups.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual capable of multitasking and managing time effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain communication with external customer security professionals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge of NISPOM, JSIG, ICD-503, NIST SP, and CNSSI 1253.
  • Possession of DoD 8570 IAM-I level professional certification (e.g., Security + CE, CAP, GSLC) or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.

Salary range: USD $112,829.60/Yr. - USD $125,170.40/Yr. This range reflects the typical salary for this position based on experience and other factors. Actual compensation may vary.
