Job Summary

The Field Mechanic position at Beaver Constructors Inc. is a critical role that requires a skilled and experienced individual to maintain and repair our fleet of construction equipment. As a Field Mechanic, you will be responsible for conducting vehicle and equipment inspections, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct Vehicle and Equipment Inspections: Regularly inspect our construction equipment to identify potential issues and ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure our fleet is always operational.
  • Repair Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Electrical Issues: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on our construction equipment.
  • Evaluate Equipment Failures: Investigate equipment failures, determine the cause, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Order Parts and Materials: Source and procure necessary parts and materials for repairs and maintenance.
  • Other Tasks as Assigned: Perform other duties as required by management to ensure the smooth operation of our construction equipment.
Requirements
  • Technical Knowledge: Possess in-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on various types of construction equipment.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities to quickly identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Communication Skills: Possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Computer Skills: Have moderate computer skills to navigate our equipment management software and other technical systems.
  • Education and Experience: Hold a high school diploma or equivalent and have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in equipment repair, with dealer or manufacturer training desirable.
  • CDL Requirements: Possess a Class B CDL at minimum.
Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Regularly sitting, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing.
  • Occasionally standing, walking, and stooping, kneeling.
  • Lifting and/or moving up to 50-75 pounds.
