About the Role

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Radiation Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Radiation Safety Program, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment across our medical center, university hospitals, and associated clinics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive radiation safety program, including training and education for staff and faculty.
  • Conduct regular surveys and inspections to ensure adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Investigate safety incidents and identify causes to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure proper use and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to departments as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of directly related safety experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certification in a safety specialty is preferred.
  • Pertinent military experience may be considered for some of the required experience.
