Position Overview

The PRN Radiation Therapist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care while administering ionizing radiation in alignment with the directives of the Radiation Oncologist and under the guidance of the Physicist.

Key Responsibilities

As a Radiation Therapist, your duties will include:

  • Ensuring adherence to safety and customer service standards.
  • Maintaining the accuracy of treatment documentation, including patient identity and treatment prescriptions.
  • Documenting all simulation and treatment parameters in the designated system.
  • Preparing treatment rooms and equipment according to physician specifications.
  • Delivering and recording accurate radiation doses on a daily basis.
  • Scheduling patient appointments and ensuring a smooth treatment process.
  • Monitoring patients for any unusual reactions and communicating effectively with the nursing staff.
  • Conducting weekly chart audits to verify documentation accuracy.
  • Performing daily quality assurance checks on equipment.

Safety and Compliance

It is essential to adhere to safety protocols to protect patients and staff, including:

  • Utilizing appropriate radiation protection equipment.
  • Following universal precautions and reporting any safety concerns.
  • Maintaining visual and auditory contact with patients during treatments.

Patient Education

Providing education and support to patients and their families is a vital part of the role, which includes:

  • Explaining procedures and ensuring patient understanding.
  • Reinforcing care plans and reporting any changes in patient conditions.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • An Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current state licensure.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments.

Preferred qualifications include experience with ARIA and familiarity with Linear Accelerators.
