Job Summary

The Special Education Teacher role at Adelbrook is to empower students to maximize their potential by strengthening their academic, vocational, behavioral, emotional, and social skills. This exempt position involves implementing an education program that aligns with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Education Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive educational evaluations and IEPs based on diagnostic testing results and behavioral observations.
  • Instructional Design: Create tailored instructional opportunities to support students' academic, social, and personal growth, ensuring alignment with curricular goals and prior learning.
  • Behavioral Support: Establish and maintain positive learning environments, providing structure and guidance while promoting students' self-regulation skills.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of student services.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education from an accredited institution and CT Certification in Special Education.
  • Minimum two years of teaching experience in regular or special education classrooms.
  • Proficiency in Positive Behavioral Support systems and IEP development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation Package

We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.
