Available Shifts:
Monday to Friday, 4 PM - 8 PM or 6 PM - 10 PM

Job Overview:

The custodian plays a vital role in upholding the cleanliness and safety of the facilities at Guadalupe Centers, ensuring that all areas are well-maintained and secure.


Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitization:
Execute routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting. Ensure restrooms are cleaned and sanitized, with supplies restocked as necessary. Regularly disinfect high-touch areas to promote a hygienic environment.

Waste Management:
Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables in accordance with established protocols. Regularly monitor and empty trash receptacles to ensure proper waste disposal.

Floor Maintenance:
Strip, wax, and polish floors as required. Ensure carpets are vacuumed and steam-cleaned on a regular basis.

Safety and Security:
Maintain a secure and safe environment by promptly addressing spills and hazardous conditions. Adhere to safety guidelines and report any safety issues to the supervisor.

Supply Management:
Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other essential items. Notify the Lead Custodian(s) of any missing or damaged supplies.

Collaboration:
Report maintenance concerns, such as broken fixtures or equipment, to the Director of Custodial Services. Work in conjunction with other staff members to ensure an efficient cleaning schedule. Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:
A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience as a custodian or in a similar capacity is required. Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and supplies is essential. Basic maintenance skills are necessary. Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy items are required. Attention to detail and thoroughness in task completion are crucial. Strong communication and teamwork abilities are essential. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Work Environment:
This position operates within a professional office setting.

Guadalupe Centers serves a diverse community, including children, adolescents, and adults, some of whom may have mental or behavioral health challenges.

As such, all staff members are expected to exhibit appropriate daily behavior, emotional expression, and role modeling. Unacceptable behaviors include hostility, aggression, and inappropriate physical or emotional actions. The custodian may be required to work flexible hours and weekends based on operational needs.

Physical Demands:
The physical requirements outlined here represent those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. While fulfilling the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to move furniture, vacuum, and clean restrooms.

These tasks necessitate frequent bending at the waist and the ability to raise and lower or move arms in a pushing or pulling motion.

The employee will also need to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance. The position requires the ability to stand for up to eight hours during a shift. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently encounter fumes or airborne particles. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, and work output. Regular communication and auditory engagement are also required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for reading handwritten or typed materials and adjusting focus.

Additionally, the position requires distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception vision abilities. The individual must be able to manage multiple demands from various individuals and interact effectively with other staff members.
