Job Overview: The custodian plays a crucial role in upholding the cleanliness and safety of the facilities at Guadalupe Centers, ensuring that all areas are well-maintained and secure.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitization:

  • Conduct routine cleaning activities, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
  • Sanitize restrooms and ensure that supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Regularly disinfect high-contact surfaces to promote a hygienic environment.
Waste Management:
  • Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables according to established protocols.
  • Regularly monitor and empty waste bins to ensure proper waste disposal.
Floor Maintenance:
  • Strip, wax, and polish floors as necessary.
  • Ensure carpets are vacuumed and steam-cleaned on a regular basis.
Safety and Security:
  • Maintain a safe environment by promptly addressing spills and hazardous conditions.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and report any safety issues to the supervisor.
Supply Management:
  • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other essential items.
  • Notify Lead Custodian(s) of any missing or damaged supplies.
Collaboration:
  • Report maintenance concerns, such as broken fixtures or equipment, to the Director of Custodial Services.
  • Work alongside other staff members to ensure an efficient cleaning schedule.
  • Assist with special cleaning projects as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must be able to fulfill each essential duty effectively. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities. The following qualifications are necessary:
  • A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience as a custodian or in a comparable position.
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Capability to perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Physical endurance and the ability to lift heavy items.
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in task completion.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Work Environment:

This position operates within a professional office setting. Guadalupe Centers serves a diverse clientele, including children, adolescents, and adults, some of whom may have mental or behavioral health challenges. All staff members are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior, emotional expression, and role modeling. Inappropriate behaviors such as hostility or aggression are not tolerated. Flexible hours and weekend work may be required based on operational needs.

This role is active and involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
