Position Overview:
The Retail Store Manager Trainee is tasked with mastering the leadership of all store operations. This role encompasses the management of staffing, sales, merchandising, and operational functions, guiding a team of full-time and part-time associates.

The Retail Store Manager Trainee will be trained to oversee the store's financial performance, focusing on achieving targeted sales, profit margins, and overall profitability.

Additionally, this position will emphasize accountability for customer satisfaction, associate engagement, and effective inventory management. The candidate must be open to relocation within the designated market area.



Key Responsibilities:

Sales and Performance Management:
Exemplifies behaviors expected from all team members.

Champions the company's Code of Conduct and promotes established standards while fostering the cultural values of American Freight among all associates.

Responsible for recruiting, training, and nurturing a diverse and high-performing team of managers and associates.

Leads the store to meet financial objectives, including revenue, margin, expenses, customer satisfaction, and inventory control.

Directly manages all sales initiatives, ensuring the implementation of the defined selling process and achievement of sales and financing targets.

Oversees the Operations Manager to guarantee that all business operations meet established standards.

Ensures compliance with all Retail Non-Negotiable Standards, including staffing, brand presentation, and inventory management processes.

Manages the overall customer experience, addressing in-store interactions, online reviews, and customer complaints effectively.

Collaborates with the District Manager to identify and address business opportunities.



Managerial Duties:

Recruit and maintain a productive sales team, collaborating with the Operations Manager to ensure adequate staffing levels.

Selects, mentors, and develops a diverse, high-performance team.

Oversees all in-store Human Resources functions, including staffing, training, and performance management, working with Corporate HR as necessary.



Administrative Responsibilities:

Implements scheduling policies to maintain optimal staffing levels.

Ensures that store presentation and brand standards are consistently upheld.

Provides a safe working environment for both associates and customers by adhering to company safety and shrink standards.

Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company ethics policies.

Works with the Operations Manager to maintain accurate receiving paperwork and inventory documentation.


This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Managing inventory accuracy and online order fulfillment.
  • Overseeing opening and closing procedures, including cash deposits.
  • Managing all store operations, pricing, and inventory processes.
  • Assuming additional leadership responsibilities as directed by the District Manager.


Qualifications:

Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
3-4 years of relevant experience or prior Sales Associate experience preferred.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Preferred Skills:
Strong leadership, coaching, and team development abilities.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Persuasion, negotiation, and closing capabilities.
Proficient in computer applications, including Excel and Word.
Strong results-driven mindset and proactive leadership style.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Knowledge of retail operations and business management.
