Job Summary

The CNC Machine Shop Lead will be responsible for setting up and operating our new DMG Mori NHX5500, a five-pallet RPP machine that will be used to build custom hydraulic manifolds for our own products and for custom applications. This position will also be responsible for establishing our machining processes and practices to deliver top-quality products and establishing our initial workflow in the machine shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Machine Shop: Ensure the efficient operation of the machine shop, including the setup and operation of the DMG Mori NHX5500.
  • Train and Supervise Operators and Technicians: Train and supervise a team of operators and technicians to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Setup Complex Jobs and Design Workholding and Fixtures: Design and implement workholding and fixtures to ensure the efficient and accurate production of complex parts.
  • Establish and Maintain a Preventative Maintenance Program: Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to ensure the machine shop equipment is properly maintained and running at optimal levels.
  • Establish and Maintain a Safety Program for the Machine Shop: Develop and implement a safety program to ensure the machine shop is a safe working environment.
  • Manage Tooling Inventory: Manage the tooling inventory to ensure the machine shop has the necessary tools and equipment to perform its duties.
  • Supplies Management and Procurement Request: Manage the procurement of supplies and materials to ensure the machine shop has the necessary resources to perform its duties.
  • Quality Control and Processes for Machine Shop: Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure the machine shop produces high-quality products.
  • Estimate Costs: Estimate the costs associated with producing parts and products.
  • Supervise and Evaluate Performance of Production Personnel: Supervise and evaluate the performance of production personnel to ensure they are meeting their duties and responsibilities.
  • Determine Amount of Necessary Resources: Determine the amount of necessary resources, including workforce and raw materials, to ensure the machine shop can meet its production demands.
  • Ensure Output Meets Quality Standards: Ensure the output of the machine shop meets the required quality standards.
  • Enforce Health and Safety Precautions: Enforce health and safety precautions to ensure the machine shop is a safe working environment.
  • Identify Training Needs: Identify the training needs of production personnel to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Supervise and Motivate a Team of Workers: Supervise and motivate a team of workers to ensure they are meeting their duties and responsibilities.
  • Report to Upper Management: Report to upper management on the performance of the machine shop and any issues that may arise.
Requirements
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure high levels of quality by paying attention to detail.
  • Extensive Machining Experience: Have extensive experience in machining, particularly with 4-axis horizontal machining.
  • Understanding of Quality Standards and Health & Safety Regulations: Have a thorough understanding of quality standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent Organizational and Leadership Skills: Possess excellent organizational and leadership skills to manage a team of workers.
  • Leadership Experience at a Professional Manufacturing Company: Have leadership experience at a professional manufacturing company.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP Software: Be proficient in MS Office and ERP software.
  • BSc/Ba in Business Administration or Relevant Field: Have a BSc/Ba in business administration or a relevant field.
  • Preferred Quality Systems Experience: Have experience with quality systems.
  • Preferred LEAN Manufacturing Experience: Have experience with LEAN manufacturing.
