Position Overview
In collaboration with the supervising physician, the primary focus is on the outpatient care of patients undergoing otolaryngology surgical procedures. This role involves active participation in the clinical management of patients as part of a multidisciplinary team. The position emphasizes the development and implementation of innovative management strategies and treatment plans for patients, while aligning with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as a resource for patients, families, and healthcare staff, offering education and emotional support.
- Designs, executes, assesses, and adjusts care plans that specify interventions to achieve desired health outcomes.
- Ensures that care plans are comprehensive enough to guide the interdisciplinary team in reaching optimal health results for patients and their families.
- Enhances patient outcomes by evaluating safety, effectiveness, and cost considerations in the planning and delivery of care across various departments.
- Contributes to the professional growth of peers and colleagues to enhance patient care and foster the advancement of the nursing profession through collaborative processes.
- Delivers care that is appropriate to the developmental stage of each patient.
- Collects and synthesizes data from diverse sources to inform clinical decisions regarding orders, procedures, referrals, and treatment settings.
- Stays informed about current advanced nursing practices to ensure high-quality clinical performance and promote professional development.
- Exhibits professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with interdisciplinary team members involved in patient management to optimize outcomes.
- Engages in all essential activities related to patient care, including documenting daily progress, coordinating clinical care, and planning for discharge.
- Writes orders, monitors and adjusts medication therapies, and performs necessary procedures within established protocols in collaboration with a physician.
- Conducts inpatient consultations and rounds on post-operative patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including same-day walk-in visits.
- Handles patient and family inquiries, manages prescription refills, and assists with clinical questions from office staff.
- Facilitates post-operative office visits to optimize scheduling and enhance new patient evaluations.
- Coordinates assessments for hearing, sleep studies, and allergy testing.
- Provides ongoing supervision and observation of behavioral health patients, adhering to non-violent crisis intervention strategies.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Active APRN Licensure in the State of Florida, maintained in good standing throughout employment.
- Certification from the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB).
- Current American Heart Association PALS certification, maintained in good standing throughout employment.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification, maintained in good standing throughout employment.
- Successful completion of a Level II Background Check.
- Completion of Credentialing by the relevant Medical Administration.
- Preferred board certification in a specialty area (Pediatric or Family).
- Two years of experience in a surgical outpatient environment preferred.
- Ability to engage cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Proficient in problem-solving to develop care plans and assess patient responses.
- Able to interpret, adapt to, and remain calm under pressure.
