Job Overview
Pediatric surgery registered nurses play a vital role in the Yale-New Haven Health System, providing high-quality care to patients and their families. As a per diem pediatric nurse, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals who share a commitment to excellence.

About the Role
This position involves working as an integral member of the pediatric surgery team, upholding the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide exceptional patient-centered care. You will practice professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model.

Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Respect patients' values, preferences, and knowledge of their healthcare situation
- Employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment
- Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes

Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire
- 1 year acute RN experience required; pediatric experience preferred

Additional Information
- May be exposed to infectious diseases and end-of-life conditions
