About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Dental Sedation Specialist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our pediatric dentistry program, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful operation of our residency program, providing direct patient care, and coordinating lectures, seminars, and clinical demonstrations to residents.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental anesthesia and experience managing airways for pediatric patients. They will also possess excellent communication, interpersonal, coordinative, problem-solving, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Program Director in the oversight and success of the pediatric dental residency program.
  2. Participate in the operational success of the department through patient care, regulatory compliance, and other administrative responsibilities.
  3. Establish a comprehensive pediatric and adult special needs dental sedation program with the Program Director.
  4. Develop and deliver a comprehensive sedation course for residents, including conscious sedation, emergency management, and pharmacology.
  5. Teach dental residents to manage airways and respond to dental emergencies in the office.
  6. Collaborate with dental residents on research projects that promote critical thinking and publication.
  7. Contribute to Dental Grand Rounds as both a presenter and coordinator.
  8. Train dental staff in emergency preparedness and emergency management.
  9. Making complex decisions regarding case selection for the sedation program.
  10. Organize and coordinate the sedation simulation laboratory course for dental residents.
