We are seeking a highly experienced Plant Operations Director to lead our manufacturing site in Binghamton, NY. The successful candidate will oversee the overall operations, including manufacturing support, process improvement, quality, and direct P&L responsibility.
This role will be responsible for optimizing efficiency, quality, and operational improvement programs while ensuring safety, costs, labor, and support of strategic customer initiatives and projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directing all operations and expenditures to ensure optimal results and compliance with legal requirements.
- Developing and driving continuous improvement initiatives in quality, safety, leadership, productivity, inventory, supply chain, and lean initiatives.
- Serving as the site's primary customer contact, maintaining strong relationships, forecasting demands, resolving problem areas, and ensuring technical and quality support.
- Planning, developing, and implementing operational policies and goals to ensure peak productivity and profitability.
- Overseeing plant project planning, budgeting, and on-time completion.
- Proposing and managing plant budgets, ensuring spending controls are in place to maintain predetermined limits.
- Adjusting plans, programs, and operations based on fluctuations in projected sales demand.
- Ensuring accurate completion of monthly operations reports and updates to KPI dashboards.
- Working with department managers and the controller to evaluate plant performance versus objectives, operating costs, and project management status.
- Coordinating with sales, R&D, and corporate engineering departments regarding new business, product trials, projects, and capital projects.
- Communicating openly, clearly, and directly with all employees.
- Maintaining exemplary leadership style, structured performance management, and a leadership development system for the plant.
- Partnering with Human Resources on labor relations issues and activities.
- Addressing and resolving customer or labor complaints.
- Developing employees for future advancement.
- Maintaining a visible presence on the manufacturing floor and effectively supervising personnel.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related business or technical field, or equivalent education and experience.
- 5+ years of senior manufacturing management experience, including direct P&L responsibility.
- Managerial experience in a high-volume manufacturing facility.
- Experience managing in a self-directed work team environment.
- Proven experience with lean tools and budget management, driving efficiencies and cost reduction.
- Strong analytical, computer, and communication skills.
- Excellent management, coaching, and leadership aptitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
