Sanitation Manager Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Sanitation Manager to join our team at KCO Resource Management. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective management of plant cleaning, sanitation, and compliance with sanitation programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead capital project execution related to sanitation programs and equipment.
- Oversee the implementation of sanitation programs and practices while ensuring compliance with budget, time, and efficiency needs.
- Define goals and KPIs for the sanitation area, ensuring alignment with functional and plant objectives.
- Analyze data and trends related to cleaning verification and validation activities, triggering corrective and preventive actions to ensure adherence to product food safety and quality requirements.
- Visit and/or audit 3rd shift sanitation practices on a quarterly basis.
- Participate in the preparation of operation shutdown weeks and sanitation practices.
- Troubleshoot sanitation problems with management and production personnel, recommending changes to improve sanitation policies, procedures, and cleaning effectiveness.
- Perform comprehensive sanitation audits on each unique production process to determine sanitation effectiveness.
- Develop and implement the Master Validation Plan and verification programs.
- Hire and train new personnel as needed, ensuring competency levels are appropriate.
- Serve as a technical resource for the facility on sanitation and press control issues and opportunities.
- Develop plans to increase cleaning effectiveness and identify opportunities to reduce costs within the operation.
- Ensure Employee & Food Safety and Sanitation Programs are developed, adhered to, and executed with excellence by all sanitation personnel.
- Collaborate with the QC Manager to ensure an accurate and effective inventory of chemicals is on site and meets the cleaning goals of the plant.
- Review and maintain sanitation documentation for Quality Assurance and regulatory review.
- Build partnerships with production, quality, and human resources to ensure production and people goals are met.
- Provide leadership for the sanitation team in their execution of sanitation tasks and objectives, focusing on overall food safety, performance, planning, scheduling, and cost control.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Oversee sanitation schedules and approved SSOPs, reflecting process improvements that maintain or improve pre-operational and operational hygienic conditions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a related field.
- 5+ years' experience in sanitation processes in a food manufacturing facility.
- 5+ years' experience leading direct-reporting team members.
- Experience with Clean-In-Place design and operation.
- Knowledge of basic engineering calculations to define CIP parameters (flow) in systems.
- Personal qualities of tact and dependability and the ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Strong business acumen, including problem-solving and analysis.
- Able to manage time through efficient planning and organizing of daily work.
- Strong desire to train, coach, and develop others to improve performance.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
