The Mental Health Care Specialist provides direct, age-specific mental health care to patients being treated for psychiatric illness based on the interdisciplinary plan of care, under the direction of a registered nurse. This role requires a strong understanding of human behavior and development, as well as the ability to provide emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a human services field and experience working with children or adults with emotional and mental disorders.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide direct care to patients, including emotional support and therapeutic communication
  • Develop skills in thinking and responding to patient needs
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a safe and therapeutic milieu
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to achieve patient goals


**Requirements:**
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field
  • Experience working with children or adults with emotional and mental disorders
  • CPR certification


**Work Environment:**
  • Work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your Nurse Manager/Practice Manager


**Physical Requirements:**
  • Lifting 20-50 lbs
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, and climbing
  • Repetitive motion: keyboarding, mouse
