Environmental Health and Safety Manager

NTN Driveshaft, a world leader in constant velocity technology for the automotive industry, is seeking a qualified Environmental Health and Safety Manager for our Columbus, Indiana operations.
Job Summary:The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will partner with the plant leadership team to achieve the organization's goal of keeping employees safe. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding the team to ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulatory requirements and NTN corporate EHS policies and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and maintain an effective system of communication within the organization, developing effective working relationships with the safety committee, department managers, plant manager, and employees.
- Investigate work-related injuries, near-misses, and illnesses, administer first aid when required, and file any required workers' compensation claims on behalf of the associate with the appropriate vendor.
- Manage the hearing conservation program, maintain EHS training records and related documents, and provide guidance and oversight of the associate safety committee.
- Conduct compliance assurance reviews of environmental programs and requirements, lead investigations of incident and near-miss reports, determine root cause, and identify corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct job safety analysis and risk assessments on assigned tasks and jobs, lead ergonomic assessment and improvement opportunities at workstations through the use of co-bots, automation, and industrial engineering activities.
- Maintain EMS and ISO 14001 certification and conformance to the standard, lead EHS facility and program audits, and coordinate response to audit findings.
- Assist with the administration of the workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier, broker, and medical providers to improve employee post-injury care, reduce lost time, and control costs.
- Manage preparation of environmental permit applications for modifications and renewals, manage environmental permit reporting and consultants, and maintain environmental, safety, and work comp files and records.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety or a related EHS field is required.
- OSHA experience is required, and environmental experience is also necessary.
- Preferred 5-10 years of experience performing EHS operations in a manufacturing environment or equivalent is required.
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience is preferred, as well as 3 years of experience in the automotive industry.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required, along with experience with automation and robotics.
- Individuals must have strong computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with governmental reporting, environmental permitting, and hazardous waste operations is preferred.
- The successful candidate must have a strong work ethic and be willing to work with limited oversight.
- Must be detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills, and effectively address EHS concerns at all levels from front-line employees to local and corporate management.
- Must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate.
- Working knowledge of workers' compensation, Federal, State, and Local Safety and Environmental Regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, and NEC, is required.
- Experience influencing, training, and leading teams is necessary.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, as is OSHA 501/503 certification.
