Job Title: Human Resources Manager

At MTM Transit, we're committed to providing exceptional care and personalized attention to our passengers. As a Human Resources Manager, you'll play a vital role in supporting our organization's vision and goals by providing direct support to our Gilbert and Peoria locations under our Valley Metro contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, hands-on support, and developmental guidance to employees and site leadership.
  • Handle all labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements.
  • Track all information requests, hearings, and grievance timelines from initiation to completion to ensure adherence to contract requirements.
  • Serve as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
  • Conduct interviews and gather information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns.
  • Assist with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion, particularly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and diversity initiatives.
  • Facilitate attendance tracking and coordination of disciplinary actions as a result of attendance violations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company policies, employment law, and common HR practices.
  • Conduct surveys, interviews, and other research related to human resource policies, compensation, and other labor negotiations.
  • Assist with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.
  • Coordinate meetings between Union Officials, Employees, and Leadership.
  • Serve as the initial contact and liaison for leave of absence, payroll, and benefit inquiries.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in Human Resources/Employee Relations or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources policies/procedures and knowledge of local, state, and federal employment/labor laws.
  • Skills: knowledge of and ability to understand and apply federal and state employment laws, ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters, strong organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure, ability to work independently and collaboratively, consultative and customer service orientation, demonstrated experience and skill in conducting workplace investigations, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • SHRM certification.
  • 1+ years' experience in a Union setting.
  • Experience working in the Transit industry.
