Job Opportunity at Sam Houston State University

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as a full-time tenure track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the delivery of the microbiology and immunology curriculum in foundational and systems-based courses.
  • Collaborate with faculty in other departments to provide a highly integrated curriculum.
  • Provide instruction using various methods of content delivery, including large and small group discussions, team-based learning, case-based learning, and other interactive approaches.
  • Maintain scholarly activities, including application for research grants, dissemination of research findings in peer-reviewed journals, and conference attendance.
  • Mentor research projects involving participation from osteopathic medical students.
  • Act as a faculty advisor and participate in selection of students.
  • Participate in university and college committee services.
Requirements:
  • A PhD, DO, MD or equivalent terminal degree in a related field from an accredited university is required.
  • At least two years of teaching experience in microbiology and immunology to students in health professional schools (medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, etc.) is required.
  • Preference will be given to a candidate who has teaching experience at a medical school and an understanding of integrating osteopathic principles into curriculum development.
