About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join our team as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Homeland Security Studies at Sam Houston State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in homeland security, developing and maintaining a research agenda, and contributing to the department's service activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in homeland security, including introductory courses, specialized topics, and capstone courses.
  • Develop and maintain a research agenda that contributes to the field of homeland security studies, including publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Contribute to the department's service activities, including committee work, advising student organizations, and participating in community outreach and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders in the homeland security community.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant field, such as homeland security studies, political science, or public policy. They will also have a strong teaching and research record, as well as experience working with diverse student populations. The candidate should be able to demonstrate a commitment to online education and a willingness to adapt to changing technologies and pedagogies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching online courses and developing online curricula.
  • Strong research agenda and publication record in homeland security studies.
  • Experience working with external partners and stakeholders in the homeland security community.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, and external partners.
