Job Summary

As a key member of the culinary team at Marriott International, the Sous Chef I plays a vital role in ensuring the success of daily kitchen operations. This dynamic individual will lead by example, demonstrating exceptional culinary skills while guiding and developing staff to achieve high-quality products and exceptional guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Ensuring Culinary Standards and Responsibilities are Met

• Develop and implement new menu items, presentations, and flavor profiles to enhance the culinary experience.

• Collaborate with the Executive Chef to oversee kitchen shift operations, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

• Analyze production needs and communicate daily production requirements to kitchen personnel.

• Recognize and reward superior quality products, presentations, and flavor profiles.

Supporting Management of Kitchen Operations

• Utilize effective communication and interpersonal skills to lead, influence, and encourage team members.

• Empower associates to provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive guest experience.

• Lead by example, demonstrating a commitment to Marriott International's values and standards.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in all pertinent meetings, including daily stand-ups, BEOs, and department meetings.

• Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.

OR

• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years of experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.

Marriott International offers a competitive hourly pay range of $37.50 to $49.52, a bonus program, comprehensive health care benefits, 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match, and other benefits.
