Medical Laboratory Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for patient diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Process and test specimens, reviewing and reporting lab results as needed.
- Perform operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Act as a resource to other laboratory personnel, providing direction and guidance as needed.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date procedure manuals, ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Work in high-volume core laboratories, performing multiple tasks and responsibilities as requested.
- Complete other duties assigned by laboratory supervisor or director, including serving as a point of care coordinator for non-laboratory tests.
- Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent.
- Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CSMLS within 12 months of hire).
- Ability to perform all duties required of a Medical Technologist, including analytical skills to gather and interpret data, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with functional/organizational/service policies and procedures.
- Leadership skills, including demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles with increasing levels of accountability, comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, teaching, and counseling skills, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
