Medical Laboratory Specialist

The Detroit Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at DMC University Laboratories, Inc. in Detroit, Michigan.
Job SummaryAs a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for performing quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests on patient specimens, analyzing test results, and preparing samples for testing. You will also be responsible for calculating test findings, maintaining records, and preparing and determining the validity of solutions, reagents, media stains, and various materials in the testing process.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze test results and prepare samples for testing.
- Calculate test findings and maintain records.
- Prepare and determine the validity of solutions, reagents, media stains, and various materials in the testing process.
- Process and test all types of laboratory specimens.
- Review and report lab results.
- Perform operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Act as a resource to other laboratory personnel.
- Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent.
- Prefer 6 months to 1 year medical laboratory technologist, clinical laboratory scientist experience in an acute care facility.
- Required: Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CSMLS within 12 months of hire).
- Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES, or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire.
- Licensure, as required by State.
- Analytical ability to interpret and analyze test results.
- Interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with all areas of the laboratory.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate various types of laboratory equipment.
- Visual acuity to closely examine specimens.
