Position Overview
The University of South Carolina is in search of a dedicated administrative professional to undertake essential office management responsibilities. This role encompasses a variety of tasks, including but not limited to managing office supplies, handling front desk communications, and facilitating the organization and execution of various programs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services. A bachelor's degree may be considered in lieu of work experience.
- Willingness to travel for event coordination, approximately 4-5 days each month.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Capability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in typing and familiar with software applications such as Microsoft Word.
- Competent in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and engage professionally with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative assistance to the Center for Civil Rights History and Research as directed by the Associate Director for Operations and Communications. Time Allocation: 10%
- Support daily operations of the Center, including front desk duties, calendar management, appointment scheduling, email monitoring, correspondence preparation, invoice processing, and travel arrangements. Time Allocation: 35%
- Organize storage areas within the Center's offices, particularly focusing on merchandise management. Time Allocation: 10%
- Assist the Deputy Director with academic programs and partnerships related to the Center for Civil Rights. Time Allocation: 20%
- Collaborate with the Associate Director on special projects for the Center. Time Allocation: 20%
- Perform additional duties as assigned. Time Allocation: 5%
Position Attributes
This position is categorized as non-essential in hazardous weather conditions. Employees in safety-sensitive roles will undergo pre-employment and post-employment drug testing in accordance with University policy.
