Job Summary

The Senior Underwriter at Amerind is responsible for evaluating and managing risk, selecting and pricing new and existing business, and developing relationships with broker partners and third-party administrators. This role requires a high level of proficiency in commercial, personal, and workers' compensation lines of business.

This position involves analyzing and evaluating insurance applications, conducting research, and making risk assessments. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and decision-making skills, as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and evaluate insurance applications to determine risk acceptability
  • Select and price new and existing business in accordance with company underwriting philosophy
  • Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and third-party administrators
  • Conduct research and make risk assessments to inform underwriting decisions
  • Communicate with customers and stakeholders to provide excellent customer service
  • Negotiate with customers to determine premium and coverage limits

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in multiple lines of business
  • Insurance professional designations (CIC, AU, or AINS) preferred
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel 25% of the time

Working Conditions
  • Typical business office setting with moderate noise level
  • Non-office environment may be encountered for offsite presentations and support of company activities
  • Exposure to natural weather conditions and temperatures, various dusts, smoke, and mists, and normal debris and hazards may occur while performing outdoor duties

Pay Range: $70,707 - $106,061 per year
