We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our team at Amerind. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risk, and making informed decisions about policy coverage and premiums.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate insurance applications and conduct thorough research to assess risk and determine policy coverage and premiums.
- Negotiate with customers to determine policy terms and conditions.
- Underwrite various types of insurance policies for individuals and businesses.
- Calculate premiums and establish payment methods.
- Make final determinations on risk acceptability within company guidelines.
- Interact with policyholders to deliver and explain policy details.
- Ensure policy requirements are met, including completion of necessary forms.
- Evaluate property to determine insurance risk.
- Create endorsements and coverage documents for clients.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as answering phones and maintaining records.
- Rend decisions based on consultations with senior underwriters and management.
- Participate in cross-functional team training.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of underwriting experience.
- Insurance Professional Designations (CIC, AU, and/or AINS) preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- No felony, theft, or fraud convictions.
- Ability to pass a background investigation.
- Travel required 25% of time.
- Typical business office setting with moderate noise level.
- Non-office environment may be encountered for offsite presentations and support of company activities.
- Exposure to natural weather conditions and temperatures.
