Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Senior Investment Officer (SIO), your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting in the management and investment of the Fund's assets within global real estate markets.
  • Providing comprehensive analysis during pre-investment due diligence processes.
  • Balancing long-term strategic objectives with short-term performance goals to exceed return benchmarks through dedicated market research and portfolio analysis.
  • Monitoring assigned portfolio holdings and conducting thorough security analysis as directed by the SIO.
  • Evaluating the performance of external managers and ensuring compliance with risk control parameters as outlined in the Investment Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Integrating Principles of Responsible Investment into investment analysis and monitoring both internally and externally managed holdings.
  • Conducting portfolio analysis utilizing risk assessment tools and analytical methodologies.
  • Performing in-depth analysis of potential real estate investments through meticulous research, including financial statements and market trends.
  • Collaborating with strategists, economists, and security analysts to synthesize investment research.
  • Utilizing advanced Excel modeling to support investment recommendations.
  • Participating in investment conferences and seminars to engage with industry experts.
  • Assisting in the evaluation of the quality of advice from the Fund's Advisor and assessing the performance of external managers.

Investment Recommendations:
Contributing to specific investment recommendations is crucial. You will:
  • Ensure adherence to the Fund's investment criteria, focusing on safety, profitability, liquidity, and convertibility.
  • Provide analytical support for investment recommendations, including interviews with fund managers and thorough reviews of fund documentation.
  • Present and discuss investment recommendations with the SIO for the relevant sector or region.
  • Engage in discussions regarding asset allocation strategies for the Fund, including co-investments.
  • Assist in the timely preparation of reports for the Representative of the Secretary-General for Investments and the Chief Investment Officer of the Office of Investment Management (OIM).
  • Support the Director of Private Markets in reporting on investments to governing bodies.
  • Promote transparency and accountability in asset management through meticulous record-keeping.

Professional Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
  • A strong background in commercial real estate investment and portfolio management.
  • Proficiency in applied economics, financial modeling, and financial statement analysis.
  • Familiarity with valuation analysis and financial tools such as Bloomberg and Pitchbook.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A commitment to gender perspectives and equal participation in all areas of work.
  • A Master's degree or equivalent in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or CAIA is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in quantitative and qualitative investment analysis in commercial real estate markets.
  • Experience in investment management within institutional investor organizations is desirable.

Language Proficiency:
Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of another UN official language is advantageous.
