Spacecraft Avionics Engineer

This role is part of the New Shepard team, a reusable suborbital rocket system that takes astronauts and research payloads beyond the Karman line - the internationally recognized boundary of space.
Job DescriptionWe're seeking a skilled Spacecraft Avionics Engineer to join our team. As part of the New Shepard Avionics FPGA development team, you'll design and develop high-performance avionics hardware for various flight vehicles.
Your responsibilities will include driving requirements definition, modeling, analysis, design, test, and production release of on-vehicle systems. You'll work closely with our rocket program and technical leads to ensure the success of our mission.
You'll be responsible for electronic requirements, architecture concepts, detailed design, development, and test. In addition, you'll participate in flight support activities and contribute to a culture of quality and excellence.
Requirements and Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA)/ASIC design and FPGA tool flow in a Linux environment
- Experience designing and developing high-performance FPGA solutions for use in highly integrated systems
- Full Product Life Cycle development experience - from requirements development through final release
- Experience with Modelsim, Questasim simulators, and Synopsys tools for design
- Vendor experience: Microchip, Xilinx (AMD), Altera (Intel)
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

The estimated salary range for this position is $167,088.00-$233,923.20 per year, depending on location. Please note that eligibility for benefits varies by role type.
