Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Office Nurse to join our team at CGH Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support our physicians in delivering exceptional medical services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care for office patients, following the guidelines of the Illinois Nursing Act and under the direction of the office physician or registered nurse.
  • Gather data through physical assessment of patients with predictable outcomes for the physician, documenting in the chart or EMR as applicable.
  • Report problems based on assessment to the physician and suggest nursing actions to prevent, reduce, or eliminate health problems.
  • Perform basic nursing care under the direction of the physician or registered nurse, documenting in the chart or EMR as applicable.
  • Share observations of patient progress with the physician and instruct patients and families regarding medication and treatment directions.
  • Assign ICD-10 codes on charge sheets or in EMR for billing purposes and monitor CPT coding to ensure proper documentation exists.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
  • Current Illinois Practical Nursing Licensure required.
  • Previous medical office experience preferred.
  • BLS required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment at CGH.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical equipment and instruments is strongly preferred.
  • Prior knowledge in drawing blood preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge preferred.
