Delivery Operations Manager

Job Summary

This is an Operations position responsible for supervising and directing the activities associated with delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and supply chain management, with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily work and safety of delivery associates, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and planned routes.
  • Analyze live and historical data to optimize delivery plans and ensure on-time customer service.
  • Supervise labor hours and direct labor activities to stay within budget.
  • Recommend work schedules and provide input on labor classification changes.
  • Coordinate the proper utilization of company assets in support of the delivery department.
  • Review delivery productivity reporting and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Interpret and apply company policies, protocols, and procedures, including food safety and DOT regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with Sales Management and Marketing Associates to resolve customer and delivery issues.
  • Coordinate efforts with Transportation Road Supervisors and Safety Trainer to ensure consistent training and safety inspections.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two or four-year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or similar major preferred
  • One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and related experience
Professional Skills
  • Ability to engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings
  • Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments, operating companies, and Corporate in a proactive and constructive manner
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
