Dice is the premier career platform for technology professionals at all levels. Our client, IT Associates, Inc., is in search of a qualified candidate for the role of Business Systems Analyst.


Position Summary:

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) is responsible for gathering, documenting, and managing the comprehensive list of requirements for various development initiatives.

The BSA ensures adherence to corporate software development practices and coordinates with all technical resources throughout the software development lifecycle.

Additional responsibilities include the creation and upkeep of various documentation types, support for testing activities, and assistance in project management and delivery.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of requirements documentation and related specifications using user stories in the format: As a [role], I want [feature], so that [benefit].
  • Refine and document requirements through graphical and textual methods, including use cases, diagrams, process models, and functional specifications, utilizing tools such as Atlassian (Jira and Confluence) and other departmental tools.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define project scope, document risks and assumptions, and develop delivery strategies while estimating costs using story points.

Functional Systems Design:
  • Guide and coordinate project team members through all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Facilitate workshops with business users to solicit and document requirements, including user story creation.
  • Analyze existing processes and develop strategies for enhancements, including business process modeling.
  • Manage the backlog, ensuring it is prioritized and up-to-date.

Communication and Collaboration:

Act as a liaison between project stakeholders and development teams, translating technical language into business terms and vice versa.

Work closely with Technical Delivery Managers to coordinate project activities, including daily standups, sprint planning, and release planning.

Create necessary documentation to enable support teams to monitor and troubleshoot production issues effectively.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, business management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in large-scale system implementation following standard software development methodologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to facilitate sessions with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence).
  • Understanding of key technologies (HTML5, Java, .NET, SQL Server) and their applicability in commercial solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Scrum Master and/or Product Owner.
  • Experience in system and/or business analysis.
  • Previous development experience and familiarity with wireframing tools.
  • Experience in process improvement and eCommerce.
