Job Summary

**Financial Analyst Position at DTE Energy**

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our Accounting Policy & Research group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing analytical work and research to support complex financial accounting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting pronouncements and accounting research related to financial statement presentation and disclosures.
  • Work with external auditors on emerging accounting issues and reporting matters.
  • Support the identification of process improvements and assist with implementation.
Accounting Research and Policy
  • Provide accounting guidance on accounting-related matters.
  • Research current and emerging accounting issues and implement related accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory accounting.
  • Prepare accounting analysis and whitepapers.
  • Analyze business transactions and propose accounting treatment with supervision.
External Reporting
  • Provide information for the preparation of external financial reports in compliance with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Prepare drafts of financial statements and footnotes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and five years of experience in auditing, financial accounting, and/or financial reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA.
  • CPA or three years of experience in public accounting.
  • Experience in the energy industry.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and process improvement.
  • Experience with SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products).
Other Requirements
  • Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience in application of a broad range of technical accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to organize work independently and work in teams.
  • Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to concisely analyze, summarize, and present financial information to various management levels.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing customer requirements and changes in the business.
  • Ability to work overtime during peak reporting periods; flexibility in working hours required.
  • Willingness to perform an emergency or storm assignment as needed.
  • Engagement in a positive working environment within and across functional areas.
